Passive Voice - Definition:

"We Use Passive Voice When Object Is More Important Than Subject"

Definition | Explanation Reasons:

1) When we do not know who or what does something Ex:My car was stolen
2) When we are not interested Who or What Ex: The factory was painted
3) When subject is known Ex: My eyes were tested
4) When we do not Want to show the Subject Ex: The mistake was made
So These are the Resons Why Object Becomes more important than Subject

Passive Voice - Kinds



We only have Three (3) Kinds
  1. Stative - Passive
  2. Normal - Passive
  3. Agent - Passive
1 ) Stative - Passive Voice
Definition: "When verb 3rd form is used as an Adjective"
He was confused -This Is The Third Form Of Verb But Here Using As An Adjective
2 ) Normal - Passive Voice
Definition: "When verb 3rd form is used as an Adjective"

3 ) Agent - Passive Voice
Definition: "When verb 3rd form is used as an Adjective"

Where To Apply?



  • As you know in passive voice subject becomes object
  • So how does subject become object?
  • if you see the above table at the left side we have all normal subjects
  • And at the right side we have the passive's object
  • Means if I will be the subject then we will change I into me
  • For Example: I play football Subject will come at the place of objFootball is played by me

Structure - Formula

Subject + Verb (Helping Verb) + Object ← [ As you know this is the Normal Structure ]

Now you will ask why does an Object Comes First In Passive Voice? well as you know in passive voice Object is more important

Now we have come to know why do we use it and we also have understood the Kinds , Rules, Basic Structure now its time to learn it Tenses

Passive Voice - Tense

We have Three (3) tense
  1. Present Tense
  2. Past Tense
  3. Future Tense

1) Present Tense

  • Before you go to towards Present Passive First you must have the basic understanding of Present Indefinite
  • If you know what Present indefinite is then you can continure learning Present Passive
  • If not then i suggest you to go Present Indefinite Tense First
  • Now I assume you know Present indefinite
  • If you know what is Present Indefinite then you also must know present indefinite tense has this Structure Sub + v1 + obj
  • But Because In Passive Voice The Subject comes at the last
  • And Object Comes First Therefore the Structure of present Passive is this

Formula / Structure:

Object + Is/Am/Are + 3rdVerb

1) Object:

Means (This is the Subject of Passive) Like I , We , They , Or Any Name "Naveed"

2) Is / Am / Are:

- Is = Is a helping verb - We use Is With Singular Ex - He , She , it or any Singular Name
- Am = Is also a helping verb - We use Am only with | Ex - Iam going to school
- Are = Are is also a helping verb - We use Are With plural | Ex - They , We or any plural Name

3) Verb:

"A Word Which Shows An Action Is Called Verb" - Ex: (Dance , Read , Listen , do)

How To Make Examples?

I Cook Food - Normal Present

Steps To Make:
1) First we take the object which in this case is food
Food ...
2) Then we use helping verbs For this tense we have three (IS / AM / ARE) so because food is single therefore (Is) we will use
Food Is ...
3) Verb will come which in this sentence is - (Cook) - (Cooked)
Food Is Cooked - Complete !!!

2) Past Tense



In order to learn Past Passive you need to learn Past tense First

Formula / Structure:

Object + Was / Were + 3rdVerb

Object:

Means (This is the Subject of Passive) Like I , We , They , Or Any Name "Naveed"

Was / Were - [Helping Verbs]:


- Was = Was is a helping verb - We use Was With Singular Ex: He, She, it or any Singular Name
- Were = Were is also a helping verb We use Were With plural Ex:We, They or any plural Name

Examples:

3) Future Tense



In order to learn Future Indefinite Passive Voice you need to learn Future indefinite First

Formula / Structure:

Object + Will be / Shall be + 3rdVerb

Object:

Means (This is the Subject of Passive) Like I , We , They , Or Any Name "Naveed"

Will Be - [Helping Verb]:

- Will Be = Is a helping verb - We use Will Be With Evey Subject

Verb:

"A Word Which Shows An Action Is Called Verb" - Ex: (Dance , Read , Listen , do)
